Message from the Chair

Dear Fellow Poultry Peeps,

The 2020 Poultry Service Industry Workshop (PSIW) has gone virtual! Although COVID-19 has limited in-person gatherings, it will not limit our ability to share knowledge and exchange ideas!

The planning committee worked diligently to provide a condensed agenda on Wednesday, October 7th, with engaging speakers, relevant topics, and as always, valuable information for industry application and use.

Following tradition, the veterinary disease updates will summarize the poultry diseases challenging the industry. The succeeding technical presentations cover a variety of topics including turkey beak treatment, broiler breeder nutrition, pecking and lighting for poultry, the outlook for poultry trade, and prepping barns for winter ventilation. As well, three Canadian graduate students will introduce their research projects and discuss likely industry implications. And finally, one of the most eggciting parts of PSIW: acknowledging the dedication and contributions from two of our colleagues by presenting the Lifetime Achievement and Poultry Service Industry Awards.

Though the format is different this year, hosting the workshop virtually provides an opportunity for more industry folks to participate from the comfort and safety of their home/office space. And a bonus of conducting the workshop online includes access to the presentations afterwards so registrants can revisit the material anytime.

Thank you to the PSIW Planning Committee, Kyla Arneson at ConventionALL Management, the speakers, the sponsors and YOU for supporting the Poultry Service Industry Workshop.

Looking forward to “seeing” you all soon. Zoom zoom!
