PSIW 2025 Graduate Student Scholarship

Thank you to all the students who submitted their research! We received many impressive applications. Our scholarship committee is currently reviewing submissions and will be selecting three students to present at the Poultry Service Industry Workshop.

Welcome Graduate Students!
Are you currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and conducting poultry-related research? This is your opportunity to present your work at the 2025 Poultry Service Industry Workshop (PSIW),happening October 1–3, at The Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta.
Who Can Apply?
Any graduate student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a research project that impacts the poultry industry.

What's Included for Selected Students?
Students selected for the PSIW 2025 Student Scholarship will receive:
Full workshop registration
Hotel accommodations at The Banff Centre for the duration of the event
Meals provided as part of the workshop program
Shuttle transportation between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and The Banff Centre
(Note: Airfare and other travel costs are not included.)
How to Apply?
Submit your application using the online form by Wednesday, July 30th, 2025.
Your application will include:
- Personal Information:
- Your name
- School
- Degree
- Year of program
- Phone number
- Participation Paragraph: A brief paragraph explaining why you want to participate in PSIW.
- Research Abstract: An abstract summarizing your research and its relevance to the poultry industry (2,500 character count maximum, including spaces and excluding titles).
Evaluation Criteria
Students will be evaluated based on:
- Abstract Quality: Clarity, relevance, and impact of your research abstract.
- Participation Paragraph: Demonstrated strength of character, commitment to learning, and perceived benefits of presenting.
- Overall Application Quality: Style, grammar, coherence, and first impression.
Presentation Requirements
Winners will be required to:
- Prepare a 10 to 12-minute oral presentation followed by a Q&A session conducted by the selection committee.
- Attend the workshop in person to present at The Banff Centre.
Notification
Winners should expect to be notified by the week of August 29th.
