Message from the Chair
In 1976, a vision for the poultry service industry took shape: bringing poultry service personnel together to learn, share, and discuss emerging issues and research that could be taken back to farm clients. Now fifty years later, that same purpose remains at the heart of what we now know as the Poultry Service Industry Workshop (PSIW). Between the sessions, case studies, and networking breaks is our shared reason for gathering: to learn alongside colleagues, exchange practical ideas, and build face-to-face relationships that strengthen our industry across provincial borders. Together, we take on current challenges facing Canada’s poultry sector while staying grounded and collaborative.
This year’s theme, “Service & Science: 50 Years of Poultry Industry Advancement” allows us to not only reflect on 50 years of connection but also understand what is essential to navigating what lies ahead.
When Rod Chernos established this meeting half a century ago, he may not have imagined the workshop as it is today. What I do know is that he—and all of us—can be proud of an event that is uniquely Canadian: welcoming, resilient, cooperative, and diverse.
On behalf of the 2026 PSIW committee, I want to express our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and registrants for your unwavering support. Half a century is something to cluck (and gobble) about! We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating the 50th PSIW experience.
With feathered appreciation, Rachelle Foss | 2026 PSIW Chair
